Unit of inquiry

Moving further with the unit on aquatic habitat, students were taken to the fish pond in school which further extended the class discussion on how some animals live in water. As a follow-up, the students illustrated an underwater scene showcasing aquatic animals.

Students were shown an audio-visual to understand the meaning of adaptation.

They also marked the 5 oceans on a world map.

English

  • A formative assessment was undertaken on ‘l’ blends.
  • Students read ORT books in pairs and as an extension, they illustrated their favorite part of the story.

Maths

Provocation to the concept of ‘place value’ was done using Montessori material – Seguin Board/golden beads and with single/double-digit numbers. They were further asked related questions:

  • What can you see?
  • What is different in these numbers?
  • What makes a single digit number different from a double-digit number?

Students were shown a short story ‘Magical ropes’ to further understand the concept of place value.

They practiced place value using manipulative which was followed by attempting a task in the process journal.

Hindi

  • Students illustrated objects related to vyanjan ‘ha’ and wrote the same in their process journals.
  • They also revised ‘aa’ matra words using picture cards.
  • Students attempted a Formative assessment on ‘aa matra’ words after which they peer assessed each other.
  • To enhance their Hindi vocabulary, they learned days of the week with a short story.

 

Circle time

  • Students enthusiastically shared the games/activities they were involved in during the carnival.
  • Students created paper flowers and further pasted them to make a selfie stand.

Art

Students continued to work on their paper mosaic compositions. They gave their reflections on artwork explaining why they used particular shades of colors for their work.

 

Information Technology

Information technology was integrated with Unit of inquiry where students recorded their understanding of flora and fauna on Chatter Pix kids app. They also learned how to add stickers, filters, text, and background.

Dance

Students completed learning the dance routine on the song ‘Shalala’. The major focus during the learning was on honing the musicality and muscle memory skills.

Music

The students played the C major scale on the keyboard. They learned how to clap along with a metronome that was set to 4/4 and 3/4 time signatures and also identified the number of beats per bar. The students also sang the school anthem.

Library

The students listened to ‘Can you sleep little bear? by Martin Waddell. The story about a little bear who couldn’t sleep because he was frightened of the dark made for interesting story telling. “I don’t like the dark,” said Little Bear. “What dark?” asked Big Bear. “The dark all around us,” said Little Bear.

Even Big Bear’s largest lantern couldn’t remove the darkness that came with nightfall. Finally Big Bear found a way to show Little Bear that there was no need to be afraid and offered him a final loving gesture with a bright yellow moon and the twinkling stars that made him fall asleep.

Physical Education

Students continued with the gymnastics and calisthenics exercises where they focused on different calisthenics exercises on the counts/whistle to improve locomotor and non-loco motor skills in order to develop rhythmic responses.
